What is Shiftworks website maintenance?
The potential client sees your site, your logo, your LinkedIn — and judges, in seconds, before exchanging a single word with you. An inconsistent or amateurish image sows distrust and forces you to compete on price, because nothing else sets you apart. In services, where cycles are long and perceived risk is high, brand perception decides who makes the short-list.
A website is not a project. It is a system that ages.
A dormant site degrades on its own. Dependencies fall out of date and open security holes. Runtime versions change and break features. Images pile up and the site slows down. Forms stop sending without anyone noticing.
In most cases, the problem is only discovered once it has already cost something — a site down for three days, a contact form losing leads for two months, or a breach that forces you to start over.
None of this requires an in-house team. It only requires someone to handle it, every month, without being asked.
Website repair: when waiting is no longer an option
Not everyone gets here in time to prevent. If your site is down, went blank after an update, shows a Google security warning, was infected with malware or stopped receiving form submissions, that is a repair — not maintenance, and it gets handled today.
We start by diagnosing the cause before touching anything, and we always take a copy of the current state: a broken site can always get worse. Then we repair it, put the site back up and tell you clearly what failed and what it takes to stop it happening again — even if the answer is that you need nothing from us.

Service start: €190. A full audit, updating everything that is overdue, security hardening and setting up backups and monitoring. Deducted from the first monthly fee on 12-month contracts.
Minimum term of 3 months, then monthly with 30 days' notice. Unused hours do not carry over. Work outside scope at €45/hour.
All prices exclude VAT. VAT is added at the legal rate in force (23%).
Maintenance covers your website. It does not cover hosting or the domain when they are under the client's management — we monitor and warn, but we cannot guarantee infrastructure we do not control. It also does not include third-party licences, development of new features or content production, which we quote separately. Does it work with sites that were not built by Shiftworks?
Yes. The service applies to any website, regardless of who built it or the technology used. The process always starts with an initial audit, which identifies what is overdue and what needs fixing before regular maintenance begins.
How much does it cost to maintain a website?
Shiftworks plans start at €69/month, plus VAT, with a one-off €190 to start the service. The right plan depends on the volume of changes you need each month and the level of technical support you want.
What happens if my site is hacked or goes down?
On plans with a defined response time, work begins within 48 or 24 hours depending on the plan. Where backups are configured, the restore is immediate. Without prior maintenance, recovery is possible but slower and is quoted separately.
Can I cancel whenever I want?
After the 3-month minimum period, yes, with 30 days' notice. The minimum exists because the first months are the ones that demand the most stabilisation work.
Why does maintenance include an AI readability check?
Because a growing share of company recommendations now goes through assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, which read websites from the outside and without running JavaScript. A site can be perfectly functional for people and unreadable to these engines — and what they cannot read, they do not recommend.
Are hosting and the domain included in maintenance?
No, when they are registered in the client's name and under the client's management. Shiftworks monitors the state of the hosting and gives advance warning about renewals and risks, but cannot take responsibility for infrastructure it does not control. For those who prefer not to manage this part, there is the option of hosting the website on infrastructure managed by Shiftworks — in that case, the hosting becomes our responsibility.
If my site goes down, does Shiftworks fix it?
It depends on where the failure comes from. If the problem is in the website — code, configuration, a failed update or a breach — the fix is on Shiftworks and is included in the plan. If it is in the hosting or an external service, Shiftworks identifies the cause, reports it and follows the process with the supplier, but the fix depends on them. The 48 or 24-hour response times refer to when work begins, not to resolution.
What happens if someone else works on the site?
Changes made by third parties without prior coordination can introduce problems that the plan does not cover. Shiftworks fixes them, but quotes that work separately. There is nothing stopping the client or other suppliers from working on the site — we only ask that changes are communicated, so that maintenance still makes sense.
